GREG ZORKO (2)

Here’s how Issue One contributor Gregory Zorko responded to our questionnaire.

How do you take your coffee?

when i’m making it at home i drink Turkish coffee with sugar. when i go to the coffee shop i just have regular black coffee.

Tell us a little about the experience of making the work you have featured in REALITY BEACH

the poems i have in REALITY BEACH were ones that i wrote so that i would have something new to read at an open mic in Madison. i like to write new things and then read them and edit them after i see how people react. so i wrote the poems in an afternoon then read them at the open mic. i don’t remember if anyone liked the poems but i like them so i decided to submit them.

Tell us about the poems you’ve been writing

i’ve been writing poems about a lot of things, like for example: friendship, snow, vaping, music, Wisconsin, bodies, objects, heaven, small apartments, eating fruits and vegetables and feeling physically sick.

What is the last thing you burned?

a stick of incense

Where is your beach?

My beach is located in James Madison Park in Madison, WI. When it’s warm I go swimming there even though the lake is full of phosphorus i guess, but it doesn’t seem to have any noticeable effects.

What is the best line of the fifth page of the poetry book closest to you?

I’m moulting on the trapeze bar    from Tender Data by Monica McClure

What is your favorite dance move?

my favorite dance move is throwing my head from side to side quickly in time with the music and smiling.

What’s the ebb reveal?

idk what that means so i googled the phrase and the first result was something about “Superbug Infections” which sounds pretty cool.
