What is your beverage of choice?
Tell us a little bit about your work in REALITY BEACH.
Well, the DATACLYSM.jpg poems are culled from a lot of random language from my journals as well as some wording from advertising spam emails I’ve gotten. The poems are really just about the deluge of information and feelings we endure in this life, but I wanted them to appear as short and visually impacted as possible. Little bite-sized chunks of glut.
What is your typical writing process?
I read a lot of poetry and write words down that I like, then type everything up in a Word Doc, then rearrange the words into my own poems. That’s mostly how I write. Sometimes, I set out to write about a specific event or with a certain theme in mind, but that’s a rarity.
If you had a talk show, what would the name be?
Do you have any home remedies for loneliness?
I don’t get lonely too often because I have a great husband and a very silly daughter who’s almost 2, but when I’ve felt lonely in the past, going out with friends and going to poetry readings always helped brighten things up.
What have you conquered recently?
I’m working hard to conquer anxiety and depression that I’ve been experiencing after a manic episode. I haven’t totally conquered it yet, but I’m reminding myself that it can be defeated.
Where can we buy more of your work (if applicable)?
This is the link to my chapbook, but it’s sold out!
What motivates you?
The desire to create, the words of poets I admire, my daughter, my husband, coffee
Any upcoming projects?
Still adding poems to DATACLYSM.jpg and I started doing erasures of poetic essays a year ago, so I’ll eventually get back into those
If Earth is a mother, and Time is a father, then what is Art?
Art is dust on butterfly wings. Without it there can be no flight.
