How do you take your coffee?
Tell us a little about the experience of making the work you have featured in REALITY BEACH.
They’re part of a headdress of sonnets I worked on from mid-2013 until early 2015. I was thinking a lot about like what if flesh was bread was a crystal was a tumor? What then, God of War?? Or something thereabouts.
Tell us about the poems you’ve been writing.
There’s a manuscript, Safe Word, that I hope will become another book soon, and two,Venus Edamame and <INSERT COIN> that are growing in darkness. I’ve also done some work for PAIR SHAPED over the last year, first with electronic composer Michael Matchen and then with photographer Ksenia Burnasheva. The series with Michael is online. I try to post everything I do at my website, but invariably forget some things…
Where can we buy some?
My first book, Eyelid Lick, is out there in places where books are. Otherwise I try and keep it all free.
What’s the last thing you burned?
Where is your beach?
Surprising even myself, Hawaii. The Hawaii beach is more delicious than I was ready for. Oregon coast for a close second.
What’s the best line on the fifth page of the poetry book closest to you?
I didn’t bring a poetry book to this cafe, but I brought a book by Helen Palmer on the Enneagram (h/t Tim Liu): “What they avoid and what they dream begin to seem the same.”
What is your favorite dance move? Please Describe.
Smiling as I flail and twist both delicately and clumsily. I figure if I don’t try to hide the fact I’m having a great time people won’t be like “look at that fool”, they’ll be like “that fool is having a blast” which then allows me to have a great time more easily.
What’s the ebb reveal?
As a fractalist, I’d say a cascading series of ebbs, in every direction perhaps simultaneously. As a human being, I’d say the gulf between what is known and what is desired that will keep expanding long past the threshold of sterility. As an optimist, maybe some golden Spanish coins(!!!).
