How do you take your coffee?

> i’m actually addicted to chai with soy it’s a serious problem

Tell us a little about the experience of making the work you have featured in REALITY BEACH. Tell us about the poems you’ve been writing.

> all three of these pieces came out of the super huge 2 1/2 month road-trip / book tour that i did while promoting my book “some planet” / i took a lot of notes during that time / tried to go to a new museum in a new city whenever i had down time / collected a ton of tweets and voice recordings from the drive, and all of that went into this giant word document that i have been slowly turning into what will be my next book GOOD MORNING AMERICA I AM HUNGRY AND ON FIRE. a lot of it will focus on home, identity, recovery, what it means to be ‘from’ somewhere, what it means to be ‘american’

Where can we buy some books (if applicable)?

> i’ve got a few books for sale in various places but i really like sending them to people in the mail with a personal note and stickers and stuff so please check this out!


What’s the last thing you burned?

> i bought a blue candle in Chicago sometime in early July and walked out to a very windy and bleak Lake Michigan and i along it until i was tired and i sat down and i lit the blue candle and i thought very hard about forgiving this person and them forgiving me and there finally being peace but the wind kept blowing the candle out and i remember giving up

Where is your beach?

> my first beach is in Wildwood, NJ but i haven’t been home to that in a long time and then my second beach was Wrightsville Beach, NC but i haven’t been home to that in a long time and now my third beach is a place i haven’t been to yet but people tell me it exists here

What’s the best line on the fifth page of the poetry book closest to you?

> the 5th poem in Alexis Pope’s Soft Threat is “Soft Container” and two of my favorite parts are: “We sight / with more than the eyes / we are missing” and “Enter me / like a forest of girl.” like damn.

What is your favorite dance move? Please Describe.

What’s the ebb reveal?

the ocean is mostly dead stuff and that’s okay
